Pizza Maru is one of my favourite pizza chain in Singapore. Unlike other pizza restaurants in Singapore, Pizza Maru offers pizzas that have sugar icing on top of them. They will also pair the pizzas with strawberry jam, which offer both savoury and sweet taste. It's a good mix of both.
This is what we ordered. The grapefruit soda pitcher is good for sharing between 2 people. It is topped with pineapple cubes, which is one of our favourite fruit as well. For the fried chicken, we ordered the soy garlic fried chikin. This is the first time trying this, and thankfully it did not disappoint. There is also a generous soy garlic dip at the side. The fried chicken is boneless, which makes it easier to enjoy the meal. Last but not least, we have the Real BBQ Chicago pizza. Pizza Maru is generous with the amount of cheese added, and you can actually see the "cheese pull" in the video. This pizza is chicken-based. Another pizza worth mentioning is the pepperoni version of this pizza, which we tried in the past. Head down to the nearest Pizza Maru restaurant if you wish to get a quick pizza fix! Here wishing everyone a Happy New Year!

.We were in the Tiong Bahru vicinity and we needed to have dinner. A quick Google search came up with this restaurant: Merci Marcel. Decided to give it a shot as it has numerous positive reviews. This is a bohemian style café in the heartlands of Tiong Bahru offering a French Balinese vibe.
We were seated at the bar counter due to a limited number of seats. The ambience of this whole place is just right. If you enjoy drinking, you can find a wide range to choose from. In today's video, we will only feature the food that we ordered. The Tuna Ceviche is basically tuna that is half-cooked and then drenched with some special sauce. I am not sure what sauce is that though, but it goes perfectly well with the bread that comes with it. The friendly staff said that the sauce tastes really good with the bread, and we were like not sure to believe or not. Well, at least not until we tried it for ourselves. It was really good. The tuna itself was well seasoned, topped with very aromatic sesame seeds as well. The breaded chicken breast tempura didn't disappoint either. Most deep-fried chicken breasts get too dry, but this one is just about right. It goes well with the dip as well. You should order this if you are a lover of breaded chicken. The marinated prawns are marinated with passion fruit and pineapple. This is a very unique fusion that we tried. You can also taste the freshness of the prawns in each bite. As for dessert, we ordered the carrot cake which was recommended by the staff. Note that this item is not on the menu, so request this item from the staff if you wish to try it out. Singapore is increasingly overrun by buildings and more buildings, and the intention behind this project is to give artists a platform to experiment or showcase their work. Hopefully, this will bring a smile or curiosity to anyone walking past the artwork. For the Very Small Exhibition held on 24th Dec, Blk 504C Canberra Link was chosen for the project. It took them about an hour to set up the lighting. There were many passers-by who stopped to take pictures and videos. Some of them were there way earlier as they were aware of the project, and they set-up their big a** tripods for the shoot. See you tomorrow! Chinatown Murals: Heritage Street Art + Pre-Chinese New Year Walking Tour (新加坡牛车水壁画 + 农历新年前徒步之旅)24/12/2021 If you have been to Chinatown lately, one cannot help but notice an increase in the number of murals that are dotted all over this district. They are very colourful wall paintings that capture the historic past of this area. On any day, especially over a weekend, you can find many locals or tourists stopping to take pictures of these murals.
In the first part of the video, we will be taking a quick walk around Chinatown. We can see some shops are already selling Chinese New Year goodies. The first mural named "My Chinatown Home", shows a number of scenes of the inside of a typical Chinatown shophouse. Look out for the details in this mural, including the food on the table. This is an artwork by Yip Yew Chong. "Detective Conan In Chinatown" is another art piece by Yip Yew Chong. Detective Conan is a popular manga character who happens to be in Chinatown that day. From the drawing, you can see that he is a durian lover. This painting also shows the store he visited, which sells a wide variety of items ranging from dried goods to fruits. The "Letter Writer" depicts what life used to be in the past before there was the Internet and also email. Letter writers in the past are highly sought-after by those who wish to write letters back to their family members in China. Most of the people back then were neither able to read nor write, so letter writers were essentially the "people of hope". The "Mid-Autumn Festival" was probably one of the earliest murals ever painted in this area. A typical scene back then, family members will gather on this special occasion to celebrate this festival. I used to remember playing with these lanterns when I was a kid. Sadly, we do not really see them these days. The next one shows a "Opera Singer" against a backdrop of Marina Bay. It seems like this painting is sponsored by Nippon Paint itself, as you can see from the video. The "Wet Market" is the biggest and latest project by Yip Yew Chong. It shows a wide variety of trade in this mural, ranging from ear cleaning, to vegetable selling, to coffee shop. You have to see it for yourself how majestic this mural is. According to Yip, it took him 24 days to finish this painting. "Chinese Opera" was THE entertainment before there was TV or Netflix. This is a dying trade today, even though you can still watch them during festive occasions such as the Hungry Ghosts' Festival. Back in the past, people will gather around the stage and watch these performers with super thick makeup perform. "Welcome To Our World" is like a tribute to all the Samsui women who helped to build Singapore. They were probably one of the most hardworking women back then. Thanks to their contribution, Singapore is able to enjoy such prosperity in such a short period of time. And then there is this entire row of murals that depict how modern Singapore was shaped from scratch, and how we enjoy peace and prosperity all these years. I will just simply call this "Modern Singapore". The very last on the list would be the "Labour Of Love". This is located far from all the rest of the murals, behind some random quiet alley located just behind Kreta Ayer People's Theatre. I had a hard time looking for this. I hope that you enjoyed watching this video. See you tomorrow! Since you are here, might as well visit: Panoramic Views From The 11 Tallest Estates In Singapore. So the movie Spiderman: No Way Home is out. There is no way I am not going to do any unboxing Lego on this. So here it is.
Watch the unboxing video and see how you can get this for free on my Carousell. I have come across a number of Hoshino Coffee outlets in Singapore, and this is the first time I am trying out this restaurant. Hoshino Coffee, originally from Japan, is well known for its hand drip coffee and soufflé pancake.
We ordered the chicken karaage Hokkaido style as the starter. The chicken is very crispy, and the meat is very tender as well. It goes well with the soya sauce, which has a hint of sweetness. The beef stew omu rice is rich in beef flavours, but one of us commented that it was a little too salty. The meat is quite tender though. The omelet is beautifully made and we love the texture as well. The omu soufflé curry rice is the next item we tried. The Japanese curry taste is rich as well, and it goes very well with the rice. We love how they made the soufflé for this well. If you love Japanese curry, then this is a dish that you can order next time. The roast beef carbonara has a thick creamy taste. The beef was roasted to perfection and we love how they added some bacon bits to the dish as well. There is this balance of saltiness and creaminess which is hard to describe in words. The last main to introduce today would be the omu soufflé seafood risotto. There is a decent portion of seafood and you can actually taste the freshness of the seafood as well. I think the risotto is tomato-based, so you will not get overwhelmed with the taste. This dish has hit the right notes and I highly recommend this dish as well. This is a very filling dish, so if you are a light eater, you can share this with another person. Since you are here, might as well check out: SpongeBob SquarePants X Impossible Pop-Up Cafe. SpongeBob SquarePants is a popular series worldwide and also in Singapore. With that comes the latest Instagrammable location: SpongeBob SquarePants X Impossible Foods. This pop-up café is only here for a limited period only, so head down to check out this place as soon as you can! I ordered the Pineapple Ice Tea, which is more of an ice blended drink. It is not very sweet, so I think this is great for kids. You can bring home the cup after finishing the drink. This will add to my tiny collection of cups in the house. For starters, we opted for the Impossible Chilli Con Carne Fries. The fries are topped with nacho cheese, sour cream, and “Impossible meat”. The con carne has more of a tomato taste than chilli taste, so I think they should rename this dish. There is absolutely 0% spiciness, and I am quite disappointed with this starter. I understand the menu is probably created for kids, but then this is not the taste I hope to get from a dish that is called "chilli". There are 4 main courses on the menu, and we opted for the "Impossible" Burger and the "Impossible" Big Breakfast. Each portion is quite decent for an adult, so you can share the meal with your kid as well. This is the first time Kumayo has launched a menu that is entirely meat-free, in collaboration with Impossible Foods. I would say both dishes taste great, especially the hash browns. The "Impossible" meat is a little dry on the Big Breakfast, but perfect with the Burger. The dessert we ordered was the Pudding Parfait. There is a generous amount of ice-cream, and both the mango and strawberry pudding taste great. The amount of sweetness is just right, even though I would prefer the mango flavour a little more. Everything else is just for decoration. Be prepared to spend over $100 for 2 pax. In my opinion, the food is overpriced and does not justify the price tag. However, if you are looking to take some pictures for your Instagram, or if you wish to pamper your children during the holidays, then this is a place that you can consider going. Reservations are recommended. Location: 8 Jalan Klapa, Singapore 199320 Visit Kumoya for reservations. Since you are here, might as well check out: Siam Square Mookata. |
